Princess Charlotte usually spends her time designing and visiting buildings for private or commercial use. This week, she went to see six types of bridges: beam, arch, truss, cantilever, suspension and cable-stayed. She also watched a tunnel boring machine in action. Her comments: “It certainly made a nice change! I am always fascinated by big or groundbreaking architectural and engineering projects, and these bridges really are great testimonies of human achievement.”
