Smart Forfour Mk I – kit from LEGO® bricks

The Smart Forfour Mk I arrived in the showrooms exactly on Ralf’s 40th birthday in 2004. Maybe that’s why he likes this car, and when it came to buying a new car sometime, this car was quite high up on the shopping list. The prototype of his latest model car was developed as a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Mitsubishi, the Colt was based on the same platform. Hence the Forfour was built at the factory of a Dutch Mitsubishi daughter company. In Germany, a total of 44,302 Smart Forfour were registered, of which just over 39,000 were still on the roads in January 2013. In the meantime, the car has become a sought after youngtimer due to its rarity. The petrol versions made up the largest share with about 75%, while Diesel variants were less popular.

The Forfour features a so-called Tridion frame, either in silver or black, surrounding the passengers and constituting a safety cell. Ralf has replicated this in his model. A new feature: the front axle with steering. Here he managed to make the wheels turn within the small wheelarch. However, there’s no connection to the steering wheel.

To start with, we’re offering this model in four different colour variants: in black with a grey Tridion cell, and in red, light-bluish grey and black with black Tridion cell. The fully black version was a special edition among the prototype.
