VW Type 2 T2b bus – kit from LEGO® bricks

The prototype

The VW Type 2 (T2) bus built from 1967 onwards enjoyed even greater popularity than its predecessor, the Type 1 (T1). Two and a half million units rolled off the production line until the end of the 1970s.
The VW bus or campervan, as it is commonly called, no longer wore a playful, V-shaped bib, but was equipped with larger windows and other useful improvements. As well as the bus, there were the panel van and flatbed pickup models.

The model

Our model is a LEGO® replica of the T2b, manufactured from summer 1972. This type can be recognised by the front indicators mounted above and the larger rear lights.
The characteristic front and engine are faithfully reproduced. The sliding door is functional, as is the folding seat. The vehicle is to scale for the addition of minifigures, which are not supplied.
By now, we’re offering the VW T2b in five popular colour variants: blue and white, lime and white, orange and white, red and white, and tan and white.
