Description

The Soviet fighter plane MiG-29 was a decidedly successful model. Developed by Mikoyan-Gurevich in the 1970s during the Cold War, more than 1,600 copies were produced for use by the USSR as well as sold to around 30 nations.

The MiG-29 was able to keep up with its US counterparts and was even superior in some respects. It was extremely agile and fast. Its most distinctive feature was that it could ‘stand’ on its own thrust stream, at least for a short time: the so-called cobra manoeuvre.

Over the years, much has been done to improve and modernise it. The multi-purpose fighter plane has remained up-to-date and is still being built today.
