Description
The B-2 Spirit is the United States Air Force’s most notorious and expensive camouflage bomber.
At the beginning of the 1970s, DARPA, an organisation for researching new technologies, began developing a new type. The American armed forces had a war plane with extraordinary camouflage characteristics in mind. With a focus on safety, flight altitude and speed became less relevant.
After years of concept development, in which various manufacturers were involved, Northrop won the tender with the radical approach of a flying wing, which was presented to the public in 1988 and then went into series production.
