Boasting the largest ever production run of any American supersonic military aircraft, the F-4 Phantom was used extensively throughout the Vietnam War and later the Gulf War. Numerous variants of this tandem twin-engine interceptor and all-weather fighter-bomber were developed. The Phantom set an impressive 16 world records, including for altitude and speed.
