Description

Literally named ‘Red Head’ after the red valve covers on its V12 engine, this Ferrari is an icon from the 1950s that would set you back around $40 million if you were to get your hands on one nowadays! This high price tag is explained by the fact that only 33 models were ever produced. It is also due to its racing success and historical influence. The two-seater racing car with a tubular steel chassis and six twin-choke carburettors won Ferrari the Manufacturers’ World Sportscar Championship in 1958 as well as ten major races between 1958 and 1961. Although top boss Enzo Ferrari demanded the designer focus on endurance rather than speed, the car was still able to reach 270 km/h and its various revisions kept it competitive throughout its years of production (1957–1961).

This car was requested by a colleague at Winterfeldtplatz market. Ralf found the main challenge to be creating the door mechanism and fitting the spare full tyre in the boot.
