Description
The giant anteater is a good two metres long from head to tail, making him the largest representative of the order Pilosa by far. He has no teeth in his distinctive snout, which is tubular and pointed. Only ants and termites are in danger from its accompanying sticky tongue. However, if he finds himself in distress, one should watch out for his claws.
Another striking feature is the long bushy tail. The peaceful animal roams the savannahs and forests of Central and South America with it lightly sweeping the ground. His sense of smell is very well formed, but his vision is considerably worse. Therefore, he does not always manage to avoid people, though if you’re freshly washed, you might stand a chance.
